WHC - 2016 Gold Tier Program of The Year

CEMEX Recognized for Conservation Excellence

The Wildlife Habitat Council (WHC) awarded CEMEX its highest recognition for the company’s conservation efforts in Mexico and El Carmen Nature Reserve. El Carmen also received the 2016 Gold Tier Program of the Year for its biodiversity conservation projects

CEMEX’s conservation programs at the Atotonilco Cement Plant in Mexico earned the WHC’s Awareness and Community Engagement Project Award.  In addition to the WHC’s Gold Tier Program of the Year, El Carmen also received the Species of Concern Project Award, the Mammals Project Award, the Desert Project Award, and the Forest Project Award.

WHC promotes and certifies habitat conservation and management on corporate lands through partnerships and education. WHC programs translate corporate sustainability goals and objectives into tangible and measurable on-the-ground actions. Through a focus on building collaboration for conservation with corporate employees, other conservation organizations, government agencies and community members, WHC programs focus on healthy ecosystems and connected communities.
